How do you read a heart? This takes practice.
You have to care. To begin the process
You stop. Zip it! Then watch and listen.
You may never guess what hearts will confess
So don’t try. Let go of control,
And observe with real curiosity
And kindness to see what body and soul
Will say. You need no virtuosity
To hear. Edit nothing. Take in phrases
And motion. Check for repetition
And watch for excitement that betrays us
When we love and when we fail. Suspicion
Is useful. Maturity is helpful.
But please! When reading hearts, do be careful.
